While I have still been reading, I have not been posting many reviews in the last month or two. Initially, I found that I had little desire to write reviews. When this happens, I usually go with the flow rather than trying to force myself to do something that is unenjoyable and eventually the desire comes back. This was, in fact, the case.
However, about a month ago, my spouse went to a routine doctor’s visit and found out something was not quite right. After several additional appointments and a bone marrow biopsy, my spouse was given an answer: acute myeloid leukemia. For those of you who have just stumbled upon my reviews or site and are unfamiliar with me personally, I am 34 years old, and this all came as a bit of a shock.
As you can imagine, the past two weeks have been a whirlwind. My spouse is about 8 days into a 3-4 week hospital stay. And this is only the beginning. This disease is a marathon, and the next steps are still unknown.
Consequently, my reading has slowed down as I adjust to my new circumstances, which includes a lot of back and forth between Queens and Manhattan and juggling care for my dogs. I have a bunch of lovely pictures taken for the books I have read, but finding time to sit and write reviews has not been plentiful. So my posting will be sporadic. I will, however, be posting my lists for August’s most anticipated new releases and Book of the Month predictions in the next few days.
