About the Site

Hi there! Welcome to Read Between the Spines!

I have been a reader to varying degrees since I was young. For years, I was averaging between 20 and 25 books annually. And then the pandemic hit. COVID-19, along with bookstagram, helped rekindle my dedication to and love of reading. In 2020, I read 100 books. In 2021, I read over 150 books! My goal for 2023 is to read at least 125 books.

I love to recommend books to others. My full-time job as a health policy analyst prevents me from being a bookseller. So, I decided to start a bookstagram and now a book blog to share my book reviews, thoughts, and recommendations!

About Me

I am a 30-something living in New York City with my partner and two sheepadoodles. Prior to living in New York for the second time, I lived in the DC/Baltimore metro area. I grew up in northeast Indiana.

I hold a Masters in Public Policy from Brown University and a Bachelors of Science in Human Biology, Health, & Society from Cornell University. I have worked in federal and state health policy for awhile now. I also am a mental health advocate and champion for criminal justice reform. In addition, I am an advocate of reading diverse books.

Happy reading!
