If you have even a toe in the book world, you know that the hybrid genre of romantasy has because all the rage. Authors like Sarah J. Maas and Rebecca Yaros have amassed large followings of fans eager to read anything they write, and BookTok has only added fire to the fuel by “re-discovering” these authors and giving them an even larger platform. So much so that novels like Yaros’s Fourth Wing sold over 2.7 million in the first week alone. It comes at little surprise that companies and book subscription boxes have popped up to cater to fans of the genre.
The company behind Book of the Month (BOTM) just launched a new service named Allurial dedicated to romantasy. For the past couple of months, BOTM has skipped the romantasy selections, and I cannot help but think they were saving them for Allurial.
Allurial debuted with three books for July: The Irresistible Urge to Fall for Your Enemy, A Forbidden Alchemy, and A Dance of Lies. Each of these books are special editions with exclusive sprayed edges and things like metallic foil or custom end sheets. Like BOTM, these books also have the Allurial logo on the spine and in the top right corner of the cover. In order to further evaluate the new subscription, I signed up with a promo code. As soon as the book arrives, I will post a full review of the subscription. In the meantime, I have included details of Allurial below.
What is Allurial?
Allurial is a romantasy-only book subscription box that claims to have special, limited edition books. Subscribers will have the option of three books each month from which to choose. All Allurial editions are limited, meaning once they are sold out, they will not be restocked.
How does it work?
At the start of each month, Allurial will feature 3 new romantasy books. Subscribers will then have until the 6th of the month to log in and pick one of the monthly selections or skip the month. If you choose to skip, you will not be charged, and the book token you already paid for will roll over to the next month. However, if you do not choose a book or skip by the 6th of the month, you will be renewed and charged at the end of the month. Your token for the current month will roll over and can be used towards add-ons. There is a limit though. Unused tokens for active subscriptions expire after 12 months. If you cancel, tokens expire in 60 days.
A token or Allurial subscription is $26.99 + tax per month. If you would like more than one of the books, additional books after the first are $19.99 + tax. You can add up to two additional books to your box. Allurial does have a guarantee, but if you do not enjoy your selection, they will replace it for free in your next box.
