Quick Synopsis

After a case of mistaken identity and an almost one-night stand, two stranded wedding guests have to find their way to their final destination together, in this riotously fun debut romance.

Publisher’s Synopsis

Ada’s little sister is getting married. Which should be a happy thought, right? But the once close sisters have been in a year long fight, the wedding is all the way in Ireland, and Ada is so broke that she just barely managed to get a ticket on a budget airline. And as if things couldn’t get worse, said airline just cancelled her connection. Which means Ada is stuck in London with no way to make it to the wedding.

Surely she’s hit rock bottom?

So, there’s no reason for her not to spill her heart out about the over-the-top wedding, her sister’s worryingly quick engagement, and the womanizing best man she’s dreading meeting to a handsome also-stranded stranger at the bar. Until she realizes the stranger is headed to the same wedding. Oh, and he’s the infamous best man.

Now, Jack and Ada must put their simmering attraction behind them to make it to Belfast before they miss the nuptials. But between flat tires, missed trains, and suspect hostels, Jack and Ada start to question whether their feelings are worth going the distance, or just a distracting detour along the way.

Book Review

I read Wedding Dashers months and months ago. I debated whether to review it, because despite really enjoying the book, I do not have a bunch to say about it.

This debut novel follows two people, Ada and Jack, who become stranded on their way to weddings thanks to a canceled flight. In her frustration, Ada grabs the wrong suitcase and must return it to its owner, Jack. Both are trying to figure out their next moves to make it to their destinations as they vent about the weddings ahead. After a one-night stand, the pair realizes they are headed to the same wedding and spoke poorly about the other without knowing who they were talking to. With limited resources, they begrudgingly journey to their destinations together.

I found Wedding Dashers to be a cute, fun romp of a novel. I love an enemies-to-lovers plot and the tension it boils. The fact that the protagonists hook up and then must travel together after discovering who the other is just increased the tension and led to some witty, stinging banter. They kept the quips flying as they rushed across the U.K. I was delighted to find a Rick Steves reference! IYKYK. Although neither character was especially memorable, the story contained emotional depth and relatability.

Overall, Wedding Dashers is a slow-burn romance that will make you feel and want to go on an adventure of your own. I recommend it especially if you are looking for a lighter read.
